Update 3-17-09 HAPPY St. Patty’s Day to everyone on this weekly update day!!!!! Well another successful Crush on the Concho is behind us, and I hope everyone had as good of a time as I did this past weekend. There is nothing quite like Crush weekend. Thanks to everyone that helped out (especially Mikey, Jeanne and JC) this weekend, everyone that showed up to the work days, all the sponsors which were a huge help in making this a successful weekend (as well as those that went out and got sponsors), also all the out of towners that picked this event over another one. I’d also like to say a special thanks to Cody and Heather for taking the reins this weekend and putting on a great weekend for all of us. I know from the players’ side things everything seemed to go perfect. So THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This week in disc golf we’ve got 2 minis, one in town and one at the lake. There is also an area tourney coming up in Fort Stockton in a few weeks. Plus it’s St. Patty’s day, one of our sponsors is having a bash out at their place tonight.First the minis….Who’s ready for what should be called the “hang over mini”??? I don’t know about you guys, but my first mini after a tourney weekend is always a little rough….but it’s what also gets me ready to start playing again after a few days off. This week’s mid-week mini is set for Brentwood Park at 6pm. The format will be random doubles, and we’ll play 18 holes. Then Sunday we’ll be back to the lake for the EVERY SUNDAY random doubles starting at 2pm. Both minis are $5 to play with an optional $1 ace pot.
Fort Stockton is holding their 2nd Annual Comanche Spring DG tourney on April 4th & 5th. This event will be 2 rounds of 22 holes on Saturday, 1 round of 18 on Sunday, plus a final 9. There will be added money to the pros, CTPs for all divisions, and free brisket and beer after the last round Saturday. Most all divisions are being offered, if you need or want to come check out a flyer I have them here at the shop. Or for more information you can give Paul Casias a call at 432-290-0882
Again it is St. Patty’s day, and Eola’s Old School Bar & Grill is having a couple of bands out tonight to celebrate the “holiday”. They will be serving corn beef and cabbage, plus their other menu items. They also have 2 new beers on tap starting this week: For you lighter beer drinkers the Warlock Wheat is back, and for you darker beer drinkers the new Irish Red just came out this weekend. Also in Bright Brewing/Eola’s Old School Bar & Grill news, they are adding another 3 permanent baskets to the property. Only 5 more and we’ll have a full and permanent 9 hole course out there. This addition will make 4 holes to play out there all the time, the more people they see playing the sooner the rest of the hole will go in. The goal is to start having a once a month mini out there on one Saturday of the month. I’ll have more information about this mini in the next few weeks. But for now, if you are that way take a couple of discs out and play the 4 hole loop they are setting up this weekend.
Think that is about it for this week’s update…..we’ll see you at the park! Comments: 0 | posted by Mike in Weekly Update on Tuesday 17 March 2009 - 07:02:08PM
