Minis So the winter schedule is getting closer to it's end as the days get longer. This may just be the last Saturday doubles at the lake of the season. Which turnout may be hurt anyway since we are having another round Saturday night at Brentwood. Anyway if you can make this one, teetime is 10:30.
Also soon to be coming to and end the sunday skins match. Once the mini schedule changes back this will once again go back to Sunday Doubles at the lake. But if you want to try and get another skins match in Sunday at 2pm is your chance.
Membership Drive/ Board Member Elections This Saturday the 7th at 5pm is our Annual Membership Drive at Brentwood. This is a night geared more towards meeting and playing with other CVDGA club members, rather than playing to win a mini. The evening will start off with some signups and food that is being made by the current board members. There is going to be Chili, Beans, Cornbread, and Chicken Tortilla soup. So come hungry!!!! When you sign up, it's only $10 a year by the way, you will also get a ballot sheet to elect or re-elect officers onto the board. That $10 also gets you 10% off all disc golf merch at both local stores. So if you plan on buying more than 6 or so discs this year it will pay off. Plus it help the club to grow. Once all the ballots are turned in we'll flip off for partners and play a "for fun round" of doubles. We're not playing for anything so don't worry about "dragging your partner down" this isn't about winning. It's about getting to know each other and having a fun night of DG at the park.
If there is anyone that would like to run for a board members spot, but has not spoken up yet. NOW is the time to let someone know. There is a thread on the CVDGA DISCussion board, or you can let Jeanne know so she can add you to the ballot.
http://www.conchovalleydiscgolf.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?3551 Basically your duties as a board member will be to make a every other month meeting, usually on the first tuesday of the month. Help with putting on all the local tourneys, work days, and any other club business that needs to be handled as the year goes on. If you feel like you can help the club grow, and want to help put your name down.
We'll also have bag tags at this event as well. If you would like one just let me know and we'll get you fixed up. 2009 Bag Tags are $10 each.
Abilene Ice Bowl As I mentioned, Abilene is having their Ice Bowl this Saturday as well. I think there is a few guys heading that way and are going to try and get back by the membership drive. So if you are able to make it up there this weekend...do it. This maybe your first chance to play the new layout at Cal Young. Signups start at 8:30am and it's $20 plus 3 cans of food to play.
Sponsor Plug Well since Mark and Kirk out at Eola are such big DG supporters I thought I would pass on some info about a "Brewer's Dinner" they are hosting this thursday. This dinner is geared towards all those that are brewing or are interested in starting to brew your own Beer. Topics will include a discussion on hop characteristics, Beer Sanitation, and there will be hops available to purchase as well as entry level brewing equipment. The dinner starts at 6:30 and the Special will be German Sausage made locally. For more info give them a call at 469-3314
