Weekly update time of the week is upon us. This week we have a full mini schedule on tap. Big Spring’s tourney is the next “big one” for the area. Other than looking for more 2013 CVDGA Club members there is not a whole lot of Disc Golf news this week.
MINIS
Wednesday the mini will be at Brentwood Park for some random doubles. Teetime is 6pm. Saturday is also doubles at North Concho with a teetime if 10am. Sunday is the first Handicapped Singles round at the Lake…2pm teetime (I’m hoping to make this one this week). (getting closer to GET-RIPT-SATURDAY on the 5th Saturday of the month!)
Club Memberships
The CVDGA is down on club member numbers so far this year. So if you haven’t renewed your 2013 dues what better time than now? If you can’t get by the shop to do it I can always bring out the form to any mini I am attending. I know last year was a crazy year hitting 60, but let’s see if we can’t at least get up to around the 40 mark for the year!
Cost for this year’s membership is only $10 and is a great way to support local disc golf!

Ok….Tuesday after the Crush is anyone still as tired as I am this week? But if you ask if I’d change anything I’d tell you HECK NO…What a weekend, gotta love Crush week! So what do we have to look forward to now that the Crush is over, well we are in full swing of the Spring/Summer mini schedule now. That means we have a full mini schedule on tap this week. The next area tourney that I know of as of right now is Big Spring’s West Texas Disc Golf Champions Tourney happening mid-April. The next local event will be the one and only hEArdImore Experience in May. Plus I’m sure there will be some other area tourneys pop up over the next few weeks.
I want to really…REALLY thank everyone that had a hand in putting on the Crush this weekend! I had an absolute blast and I know most everyone else did as well even in the windy conditions. Thanks to Debbie and Francis for helping out at HQ over the weekend, Jeanne really thanks you gals! Thanks to Patty, Micah and Cookie for setting up and tearing down the temp course all weekend…I know that is not a fun job to be tasked with over the weekend. Thanks again to Cookie and Sara for stepping up and volunteering to TD South Concho…another not so fun task being stuck over there all weekend. But most importantly thanks to my wife Jeanne who has dedicated a lot of the last 2 months of her life to putting in all she could to run the best tourney the CVDGA could put on so most of the rest of us could all go out and have a fun weekend with little to no responsibilities. In case I haven’t made it clear…JEANNE YOU ARE AWESOME and I for one Thank You VERY MUCH for all you do for the local disc golf scene. I personally know just how much trouble we as a club would be in if you were not there to get things done! My hope is that most everyone that was at the tourney, or at the very least the ones that get this email will let you know just how much they appreciate you for all you do for us!
I also want to once again thank all the people that helped gather in sponsors for the event. As well I want to thank those that did sponsor the 11th Crush on the Concho. We did well enough to even be able to add cash to the purse in 3 divisions this weekend. Just think what we could do if more people would chip in gathering more sponsors for next year! Anyway, please, please support or thank these people any way you can over the course of 2013!

Saturday is set for handicap singles at South Concho – teetime is 10am for this one.
This Sunday marks the return of the every Sunday minis to the schedule. This being the 3rd weekend of the month we’ll be doing random dubs. 2pm teetime.
(oh and just a little something to look forward to…we have a 5th Saturday this month anyone know what that means???)

Not sure if they are going to do online signups, I’ll try and get that figured out by next week’s update.
Just FYI Registrations for the Crush close tomorrow at 7:00 pm CST. I do not control this and Disc Golf United has it automatically programed in their system that registration will close so be sure you get signed up because you really don't want to miss out on this event I PROMISE! WHOOHOOOO….CRUSH WEEK IS HERE!!! Anyone out there excited yet? If you haven’t signed up for the Crush it’s not to late, registrations will close Thursday evening. Well not only is it Crush week, it’s also the start of the spring/summer mini rotation this week. That means handicapped singles this week at Brentwood Park! Every Wednesday minis are back starting this week!!! We’ll go over the full schedule in next week’s update. Wednesday – Handicapped singles at Brentwood, 6pm teetime. We’ll still need lights to finish up the round! No Saturday or Sunday minis this week.
11th Annual Crush on the Concho
Well if you are one that likes to drag your feet or are on the fence about playing this weekend: It’s not too late to sign up for this year’s biggest disc golf event in West Texas. And really THE EVENT that supports and funds all other disc golf in San Angelo for the year. If you are not supporting this one, basically you are not supporting the long term disc golf scene in San Angelo. So get on the World Wide Web and get your name on that player list! The players list is up to 115 last time I checked!!!
Friday doubles will start at 2pm and will be played on the newly revamped alternate course.
It will be a flex start so you can start anytime between 2pm and 5pm or so as long as there is another team on your card. Cost is $10 per person
Saturday All players must check in at Middle Concho(the lake) to get your player pack and pool assignments.
Check in is from 8am – 8:45 am
For those starting at South Concho once you have checked in and have your player pack and pool assignments you can head to the course as you will have your own player meeting there that will be held by Cookie.
Now come on Friday so we can get this party started!

Weekly update time of the week once again. This week the big info to get out is about registration for The 11th Annual Crush on the Concho. We are still getting calls from people who say they have been told by someone that they can signup the Friday of the tourney. THIS IS NOT CORRECT, the only way to play in the Crush is to signup online…so please spread the word on that! The 2nd deadline for Crush sponsorship is this Friday. We are in the last week of our “fall/winter” mini schedule, which means this week is the last off Wednesday night, but the rest of the weekend minis are still on the schedule for this week. Dates for the next big tourney in the area have been set for April 13th and 14th in Big Spring.
MINIS
No Wednesday mini this week! Saturday is random doubles at North Concho. 10am teetime Sunday is the last skins match of the year…2pm teetime. There will be no Sunday mini next weekend due to the Crush, but after that we’ll go back to a singles/dubs rotation.
11th Crush on the Concho
I can not stress this enough…the only way to play in the Crush is to sign up online! Please spread the word as we are getting calls almost daily with people saying they heard they can signup in person at the tourneys. That is not the case! So this means someone is spreading some bad info. Date: March 9th & 10th 3 rounds of 18 Bring your own doubles Friday March 8th – Cost: $10 (signup day of, you don’t have to be playing the Crush to play this) Flex start from 2-5pm. Played on: alternate course. If you want a T-shirt in your players pack for the Crush you have until 8:00 pm CST Sunday to sign up. Any entries after that will not be getting a shirt. That is 5 1/2 days left to get a shirt.
