Baskets needed. So we are going to be in need of 9 baskets for this weekend. Anyone that has one please let us know if you can have it out there. We'll need them at North Concho on Saturday and S.C. on Sunday.
Jason 2 JC 2 Patty 1 Ashley 2 or 3
Still in need of 1 for sure, and possilbly 2. Anyone else playing have one they can bring out?
Ok so I have an issue I want to address from a topic that was brought up at our CVDGA Board Meeting last night:
Patty brought up the fact that several people(that he kept anonymous) has mentioned to him that they feel the Menage is to expensive at $33 per person to play and that's why attendance may be down a little from last year.
After disussing it last night we are going to look at the numbers profit/cost and see if there is a way to lower the price next year. Though that will also come with a price, as it is now you get a disc and shirt just for signing up as your player pack. Disc cost will average around $14(not including tax) and just say the shirt retails at $10(which I know everyone pays more for a shirt at a department store than that). What this means is you are getting $24 of your $33 back at check in time. That leaves $9 to cover other expenses like getting a new plaque made for 2 trophies, 12 medals to be bought for the 1st and 2nd place finishers of each division, plus 1 more medal that is awarded to the MVP of the tourney.
So that "price" I mentioned earlier would probably come in the way of no shirt or no disc in the player pack. For anyone willing to voice their opinion publicly: Would it make you happy if the cost was lowered to say $20 and one of the items was dropped from the player pack?
On the other side. I just want to make everyone aware of what it cost the Warlocks to play at Texas Teams last year in the 9 man division. Basic entry for this tourney is $60 per person, that includes 1 disc, 1 mini, and a sweatshirt. If you want to upgrade your sweatshirt to a hoodie(really who wears sweatshirts?) that costs an extra $5. If you want food provided that is $10 per day, and if you want breakfest provided that is an extra $2-3 per burrito. Most player on the team upgrade to the hoodie and only do lunch one day. So that is a cost of $75 per person...which is $675 per team.(kind of makes that $99 per team look pretty cheap doesn't it?) And that cost is not including food, beer, and gas to get there. So add an easy couple of hundred more to that cost for 2 or 3 vehicles to get there and back. They had 30+ - 9 man teams last year, and I think around 15 6 man teams. Of which in the 9 man division, probably only 10 have a real chance a winning and getting their team name(not individual names) on a plaque that stays at Circle R, and 9 custom stamped discs. BTW- we are not one of those 10, but we do this every year because Team play is something unique and worth paying the $$ for the experience alone. Much like the unique experience you can only get at the Menage with the format that is like no other I have ever heard of. It's even more unique than Texas Teams with all the formats we play.
Anyway I just wanted to put that out there. This post was not ment to piss anyone off, just to point out some facts and try to clear the air about "it being to expensive". When really at retail costs you are only basically paying $9 to play a 2 day tourney and have a disc golf experience you can only get at the Menage A Trois.
Plus when you take into account that the club just had to drop $350 on a new basket at the lake...which is maybe the amount we'll make off of this tourey this weekend. There is not a lot of room for adjustment. Everyone wants a new course in town...the only way to get that is to play tourneys and support the CVDGA.
I would love to have a discussion/debate...publically or privately with anyone that feels they have issue with the cost or my explanation of why the cost is what it is.
I agree with u. This is a tourney that is not expensive. Though I have never done it. I would 1 day try this tourney. But $ 33 dollars is cheap 4 a tourney. Support ur disc golf.
Yeah what's up with that anyway Junior??? For 3 weeks I've been hearing you are coming...you are coming...now all this sudden Nathen says you couldn't get off work???
W E A K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for making extremly public what I mentioned in the meeting!!! Just kidding! All I did is told the board members what I have been hearing over the last couple of mini's. I do not mention names, but I think it is important to bring any complaints or compliments to the board.
FYI Earlier when we were putting out the flags at the temp course, we noticed a few white arrows on the roads.. hence a track meet. If we can't meet at Picnic Bend Park, we will meet down the road at North Concho park. Look for someone around Picnic Bend to direct you if it is not possible to have a players meeting there.
If anyone needs any info or directions, my # is 325 277 6350.
I have updated the players list at the online registration site. Also I will post the scores after the Saturday rounds so everyone can see how they are doing.
GREAT TOURNEY...GREAT TIME....and now that it's over I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!!
Huge thank to JC for taking on the TD responiblities for the weekend so the rest of us could just go out and enjoy the weekend!
Big Congrats to "The come back kings" - Jeremy, Rudy, Johnathan for taking the top division trophy and to "Dead On" - Matt, Robert, and Michael for taking the lower. Hope both of you guys teams get to come back next year to defend your titles.
I'd also like to thank all the Forth Worth guys for coming down for this event. I hope everyone of you had a great time, and are looking forward to coming back next year. Or maybe to the doubles in September!
And lastly, I'd like to thank my teammates! I wish I could take back my bad play during the singles round...but in the end it wouldn't of been enough anyway. I say next year we keep our mouth shut cause every time we talked smack to each other we'd screw up.....Ahh never mind it's to much fun talking smack!!!! ;)
Thanks to everyone who made it to the tournament. Sorry I am so late with the scores, but they go like this:

Thanks again for all the help with the baskets, flags, etc. and for bieng so patient with the TD. I had a blast and already can't wait till next year!
Jason forgot to mention that Rudy DeLaCruz is the only player so far to have his name on both trophies! We will see if he can get his name on another one next year and if the Dead On guys can step up and get theirs on the BIG CUP!
I had a blast playing with everyone and getting to see a few old faces.
