Whoohoooooo, hockey season is almost here! Pens open up on Thursday night...man I can not wait to see the new look Pens. Lots of changes since last year, let's hope they are for the better! No Gonchar on the blue line kind of makes me worry, let's hope Goligoski and Letang can pick up the slack!
We start off in New Jersey...not too excited about that! We did have a good preseason and our goalie looks pretty good, of course; preseason is not the "real season"! I am still and will be upset with the Modano trade, I am finding similarities with the cowgirls and the Stars...letting franchise players go for nothing so they can make room for all the other overpaid players!!!
Don't be to mad at the Stars it(although my example at the end is a little different circumstances)....blame the NHLPA/NFLPA, they are the ones that keep the free agent market going. Even the Steelers let Franco Harris go at the end of his career......it is crazy to see the highlights of him all people in a Seattle Seahawks jersey!
Pens vs. Stars, is the first part of November....we need to get together and watch it since I can not go this year. Think it was like 6 or so days before I leave....so just couldn't swing both(much like the Steeles vs. Saints we had talked about going to)
We can do what Brandn and myself use to do for Pens vs. Ranger games when he use to get the NHL ticket. When it's in Big D, I will come to your house.....when it's in Pittsburgh you come to mine.
Of course that is up to LT oking that.....as when you are at my house we'll be done at 9ish, but when we are at your house we'll just be starting at that time! But no turning the game off if we are blowing you out! :P
If you zoom in next to Mario in his white jersey with his back(to the left of his face in the black area) to you there is a picture of Zoey and myself that will be in the new Consol Penguins arena for ever!
Certainly not the start I was looking for from the Pens.....they look like they are really missing Gonchar QBing the rush....and Fluery is letting in some weak stuff!!
Maybe tonight is the night for the first win of the season!!
2-0-0 That's right baby! Beat the Devils who I was afraid of, and the Ilanders who look for real this year. Of course it's only game 2 of a very long 84 game season, but a great start non the less!!! I am dreading our next game.....DEADWINGS.......with MODANO!!!
WOOOOHOOOOO....finally the Pens win!!!! Sure we beat a Devils team that has paid 1 player so much they can't even field a full roster(I am not exaggerating, they only had 15 skaters instead of the normal 18 yesterday due to salary camp restictions. So with the injuries they have right now they can't bring up players from their AHL team to fill the roster!!!), but hey a win is a win! But we did do it with our backup goalie and without our main defensive defensmen(and a second defesnsmen that went down during the game)!!!!
Now let's hope they can get another one Wednesday, then the first home win Friday!

Patty, what are you going to do if Modano scores the first goal of the game? I saw he already got his first of the year the other day.
Be happy for him, but very pissed off at Dallas. Even if he doesn't score, I am gonna hold a grudge with the Stars for a very long time! Maybe it will go in a shoot out and Modano will score for them, but Robiero and Morrow will score for us and we will get the win!!!
Watch out NHL...The Pens looked like they might have gotten their PP on track last night while smoking the Sens and former teammate Gonchar(who went -3 haha!).
4 wins on the season and 3 of those are from the bacup goalie! Watch out Fluery...Johnson is coming for your job!
Can't wait to see a healthy team, right now we are missing Orpik our best d-defensemen, Mecalik(sp) one of our big D free agents, Staal the best shutdown center in the league, and Ashum a FA we got from Philly!
1/10 of the way through the season and we are tie for first with......the Islanders?
I just sent you an email about this. Fox and Dish have quit their fighting and I have Fox Sports Southwest and will have the game Wednesday. I don't care if we watch it at your house....if you want to watch it after the mini...it will be late!
How about them BLUES!!!!!!!! I am loving our start so far, 9-1-2, 6-0 at home!!!! We have 4 shuouts on the year, one against the Rangers and oh yeah one against Jason's Pens ha ha. BTW nice job on avoiding your phone that night jason!! Can't wait to play the stars now and beat them down too!!! Oh yeah and we have beat the hawks twice already too!!!! I am loving it!!!!! And why isn't your user name Frenchie! As for me avoiding my phone...that wasn't the case. After teh game I kept wondering where the call was. Then I realized....we were in Odessa for a tourney that day and I had left it in Tosha's Tahoe.
Wouldn't be to excited watching your Blues play the Stars...not after both teams got their A$$ handed to them. Stars lost 0-5 and Blues 1-8. Plus, we already have beat your team once! As far as the UFC fight, that is the 1st one I din't not get to watch this year!!! Damn it, saw a UTUBE video looks like Brock was running like a scaredy kat!!! Good to hear from you. We are all getting ready for Texas Teams, wish you were going!

The Pens game sure was great until we gave up a shortie with under 2 minutes left on the clock....after scoring 2 goals in about 1 minute with under 5 to go in the game. Could not believe Fluery gave up that game tieing goal....then to lose it in OT man can you say dissapointing trip to Pittsburgh?
Still though our seats were amazing...we were about 15 rows off the ice! And let me tell you the new Consol Energy Center is amazing!!! I thought American Airlines was nice....the Consol made it look like the old Reunion arena! The lighting in this place is the best I've seen in any arena or stadium I've been in. The seating is very...very comfortable, and the atmosphere is GREAT!!!! Zoey really liked the hockey game(waaaay more than the Steeler game), she was doing all the chants, and claps, and when we got those 2 goals she was sooooooo excited. Seeing her there made the whole trip worth it even with 2 loses.
After the game while I was sitting there waiting for the crowd to clear out...and sulking a bit. Zoey got to meet Ice Burg(the Penguins mascot). I took her down to the glass while he was on the Ice, and he came right over. Thought he was just going to talk/whistle(he doesn't actually talk) to her through the glass, but no, he came off the ice and climbed into the stands to pick her up and gave her a hug and kiss(should have seen her face). It was a great experience!(other than losing the game of course)
That's awesome! I was gonna say something about the Pens, but decided not too since my Stars were losing as well....I was gonna say something bout the Steelers, but knowing you were there in person on vacation and haven't seen either one of your teams win...I thought I better shut my mouth! Sorry your trip wasn't what you were hoping, but I bet seeing Zoey having such a good time and meeting the Penguin, more than made up for it!!! Glad your back...no one else has talked on this discusion board since you have been gone!!!
Man the trip itself was awsome(I'll tell you more about it this weekend), and even the Pens game was fun...The Steelers game, not so fun, but glad and thankful I am able to do that stuff with Zoey win or lose. Hopefully we made some memories at 3 years old she'll never forget! Zoey's first plan ride, man was she excited Friday morning heading to the airport....first games, first time I had been to a Zoo with her(she's been to the abilene zoo and Kansas City Zoo with Jeanne), of course first time to ride the inclines. Plus we had some great food, and seeing the trees/leaves this time of year on the East Coast is just amazing! That was one of the first things Zoey said...."dad look at all the colors or leaves".
