Junction registration is up to 77 players. I'm not sure what they are going to limit the field to(96 or a full 120)....but I wouldn't wait to long to get in if you are going to!
This is going to be one fun weekend of DG!
Oh and Cookie I smoked my first turkey breast yesterday....I gotta say I don't think lums has anything on me!!! But I'll still make a stop for some TURKEY!!!
Read that if you will go to the facebook page, if you have facebook, or have a friend do it for you, but if you PLAN on playing in Junction and have not signed up, simply get a message to Dave Wimer or Jason Smith and have them put you on the list. I did and they penciled me in and put me on the roster. I would do this PDQ if you have intentions on going to Junction that weekend.
It really is...I love it! I decided to do it after watching pitmasters the other day and thought why haven't I tried that. I didn't quite get the smoke ring I was looking for, but it was smoke flavored, tasted great and stayed moist! I'd give it an A for my first try....next time I'll smoke it a little slower.
After the ribs I cooked for memorial day, my pork tenderloin that I think I do amazing, and now this turkey and porkchops....I'm starting to think more and more about competition BBQing. Team HOBO cooking! Trying to talk Mark into having a comp. at his place in a few months.
Fowl normally wont take a smoke ring like beef or pork will, but you can get the flavor and juiciness though. I guess it's a bird thing that they don't want to look smokey!
No, because you don't facebook or apparently read the weekly update I send to you every tuesday you don't know where to sign up. On Facebook he is lettting people just "say" they are going to be there and he's putting them on the list. So really there are probably only 50 players with an actual paid spot. Kind of strange way to do things, but it was the same way for Brandn with the kyle tourney. He just told them he was going, they put him on the list, and he paid Saturday morning.
You might as well start sharing a Facebook page with LaTosha or get your own unfortunately. I foresee this as a medium that will be used for many many tournaments to come. It has become a very useful tool as a point of contact for a good number of the population. I'm not saying you have to completely stop being a caveman, but you might want to get with the program or at least ride on LaTosha's page to stay up to date. Or like JasonChristian said, READ what is posted and react accordingly in a timely manner...caveman. If you had a facebook page you could have gotten this taken care of in 15 minutes or less...lol!
I faught cellphones for years, found out they are helpful....then fought texting for a while and both you "cavepeople" (amoung other's) gave me a hard time for not wanting to do it....I "caved" and found out texting is a useful tool to help with communication. Facebooks is no different...you don't have to be "that person" that let's you know where you are every minute and what you just got done eating for breakfast, but it sure makes getting info out to the masses a whole lot easier and is an easy way to keep up with people you like to know what's going on with.
Great time in Junction this weekend...despite my bad play. Thanks to all the Fly Ink crew for putting on a smooth running event. Congrats to all the CVDGA member that made payout!
Gotta say, man was it nice being home from a tourney by 4 on a Sunday!
Junction was a blast. I recommend that tourney to anyone. People are great, course isn't too difficult and the river is right there with fantastic bbq to follow it. Didn't do as well as I wanted to but I had way more fun than what I expected and that's what is most important. Quote of the weekend, " come on, you can get one more arm in there, do it we wanna see it!"
Awesome tourney. Ran very smoothly and I really liked the course. Had a great time playing with the LoLo's (Ladies of Live Oak) and hope to see them here in March. River was beautiful!
