Cool deal....I'd like to see the long drive and putting/skills comps. but it's not a must see for me. And,sure I'd like to see some of the courses before I play them....but being there for the tourney is the most important thing. If I can't get there early enough to see them, no biggy really. I'll see em when I play em!!! ;)

Ok, 2 more questions(for now)

Do you know if the awards will be done on Saturday after the finals, I'm guessing they will, but Jeanne wanted me to check. Not that I really think I will finish high enough to be in the awards, especially since I'll have to play advanced, but just need to know if we can get out of there on Sunday or if it will be Monday?

And what exactly is the fly mart?

thanks for the info!
As of now, this looks like it could really happen!!!!!(fingers crossed)

Patty, Brandn, and Nick...you guys are going to miss out on probably the biggest DG event we can attend! Not to late to change your mind.

The awards will happen Sat. after the Finals so as to give people all day Sun to get back home for work on Mon. (as if we really WANT to get back...)

The fly mart is the biggest collection of disc golf peddling you have ever seen. Any and everything disc golf will be sold there from Innova and Discraft to jewelry to artwork.....vendors of all sizes....if it relates to disc golf, it will be there. Dont bring lots of money unless you intend to spend it....cuz you WILL spend it....hehe. Even if you dont, its pretty cool just to walk around.

I AM IN!!!! That's right, I am going to worlds...already signed up and hotel booked!!! I AM IN!!!

We'll in my tenth anniversary card from Jeanne at the bottom it says: "Let's Go To Worlds" I looked up and she said it again, then went home and signed me up online, and booked hotel reservations....are you ready for this.....at the host hotel!!!! She spent quite a while on the computer looking at hotles and deals on all the sites. Finally went to hotwire, found a hotel we thought would be at least near the host hotel...for like $53 a night. She sat on it a couple of minutes and asked me a few times, "think I should just do it". Finally click and bam..host hotel for under $400 from monday night-Saturday.

WHOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, KC here I come.....I'm going to worlds!!!!!

Nice! If you've kept up with the Worlds thread on the PDGA boards, it looks like everything you will need is within walking distance of the hotel. Only have to drive to the courses. Im ready for the invitee sign-up period to end so I can get signed up!! The enormity of this tournament will blow you away....my only Worlds memory was for Am only....cant imagine what a combined Worlds is going to be like!

Well it's official, my name is now listed on the players list. Already 44 or so players in the Advanced division, looked back at last year and there were 250 in it. That's bigger than any tourney I have ever been to(other than Texas Teams) total....much less in my division!

Also looking at last year, if I finish in the top 100 of the division I'll earn enough points to qualify again next year. Not to mention that I am playing in more B teirs this year than last, and 1 A teir so far.

THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Patty you still working on it? Deadline for invite signups is like mid-may.

Hey Jerry, did you get signed up yet? Noticed they opened it up to "general registration" monday.

Sounds like they are going to make Nick play Pro worlds instead of Am worlds since he took cash last year. Wierd how certain tourneys you play by your rating, and others they look at if you took cash. Guess they have their reasons.

Noticed Joe Acosta from Ft. Stockton has signed up...Greg told me up in Amarillo that Chris is going also. Guess there are going to be a few West Texas DGers.

Carl is now also going, but only to caddy for Nick.

I havent signed up yet. The way my paychecks/bills fall, I need to wait a few weeks before I can sign up. But I definitly will the first chance I get...already got the room so I better!

Was Nick trying to bag and play Am again!?!? Good grief :-?? Heres how that works: Once you accpet cash, your instantly registered with the PDGA as a Professional player...regardless of your rating. (you can appeal to the Tour Mgr. and get your Am status back and it may or may not be granted). At tourneys other than Majors and if your rating is low enough, they let you play any Am division that your age/rating qualify you for...but your still officially listed with the PDGA as a Professional. Worlds only "divisions" occur because of age protection, not ratings...so you play as you are registered.(Hence, no Intermedeate, Rec, etc.) The only exception being that Am's can play up.

Actually it was probably more that I had him talked into playing Ams. He didn't want to go this year because he didn't feel he was ready to play Pro Worlds yet. Wanted to wait till next year. I figured since he qualified as an Am player and his rating was low enough, he should take his one last chance to play for an Amatuer World Title. So that got him to sign up, but they called him and told him he had to go pro or give him a refund since he took cash. So now he's going to go ahead and move to the pro ranks.

He said he was done with Ams tourneys at the start of this year, and has held true to that up till he signed up for this tourney. But again, it was more me talking him into it than him doing it on his own.

Anyway thanks for the explination on it. ;)

So YOUR the culprit..hehe j/k. I've thought he was ready for the Pro ranks since Big Arms in '07. and I'm glad he's playing pro full time now. Looks like there will be several from our area up there. Its such a cool experience to play in a week long mammoth event like this and you first timers are gonna love it. I know its gonna be a blast for me! (as long as I dont finish last...hehe)

Just wanted to make sure I am reading it right.

We don't have to wear collared shirts at this event right?

Was going to get some WDG embroidered logo dryfit polos to wear, but after checking the rules...it doesn't look like I will have to, THANK GOODNESS!!!! I HATE COLLARS!!!!

btw-COME ON JULY!!!!

The rules for attire are in the competition manual. It's been awhile since I've read it, but I'm pretty sure the collared shirts are just for pros. I do know you don't need a collar if it's a dri-fit shirt.

C. The following dress code for all competitors will be
enforced at all PDGA National Tour and Major Events. The
PDGA also recommends that this dress code be enforced
at Super Tour and lower tier events, but this decision lies
solely with the Tournament Director:
(1) All players in PDGA sanctioned competition and
tournament staff are expected to dress appropriately
and to maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance
at all event sites and associated functions.
(2) All players must wear a shirt covering their upper
chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down,
mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered
collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm
from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as
the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable.
Women are also allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as
designated above.
(3) No tee shirts will be allowed, except for competitors in
the Junior and Amateur divisions during preliminary
rounds only. Juniors and Amateurs shall not wear tee
shirts during semifinal or final rounds. Crew neck or
V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech
materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will
be allowed.
(4) Shirts that hang down lower than the bottom hemline
on the player’s shorts shall be tucked in.
(5) No ripped shirts, shorts, pants will be allowed on the
course. This includes unhemmed, torn or cut “vents”
at the shirt collar.
(6) No offensive, profane, or obscene slogans or logos
shall be allowed on any clothing. Junior players may
not wear slogans or logos referring to alcohol or
tobacco.
(7) This dress code will be in effect from start to finish at
each event, including all tournament rounds.
(8) Players who do not make a cut, but wish to remain on
site through the duration of the tournament, will be
considered spectators and will not be required to
conform to the Tour’s dress code.

Cool, so the only way I would have to wear a polo would be if I made the finals, and didn't have a dryfit shirt.

did I mention I hate collars?

Some pics for you guys that are going to worlds to check out...and for those that aren't going to drool over!!! Rosedale looks like it could take the tightest course I've played title(if I get to play it that is).

From what it sounds like I'll have two days of 1 round, and 2 days of 2 rounds for a total of 6 rounds in 4 days???? I better get my arm ready cause I don't think I have ever played that many holes in a week!

Patty we still on for the lake this week?
