LET'S GO PENS!!!

Don't look now, but we are just a few games away from the halfway point in the season....When's the last time you could say the top 3 teams in the NHL are from the east? Not to mention 2 of them are from teh toughest division in hockey....the Atlantic! With the Pens on top!

Dallas almost has more overtime loses than wins...14-9-11 Hard to get to the top win you can't pull out a win in the extra period or shootout!

This discusion board is getting dull. I figured I would say something to give viewers something to read. Dallas Stars beat Detroit Saturday, and that makes me happy! Dallas Cowboys beat the New Orleans Saints, and that makes me sad!

Don't look now, but Sidney Crosby is tied for the league lead in goals!!!!!!! For you non-hockey fans, he's won the scoring title before, but usually gets his points as a set up guy....This year he's finally decided to shoot, and WOW has he been amazing so far! 3rd hat trick of the year last night...He only had 2 before this season.

On a bonus note: The Pens are only 1 pt back from the division lead(behind the stinkin devils), and 3rd(in pts) over all in the conference behind the Caps. Pens vs. Caps on NBC Sunday at 11am! Sid vs. Ovie always a good matchup!

USA..USA...USA...USA!!!!

What a game last night between USA vs. Canada! USA took it to them for the first 56 minutes, Canada came on in the last 4, and got me a little worried....but Miller held them off in the end to take the game 5-3 on Canadian soil no less???? Great game for a USA team that wasn't suppose to be ready to compete at this level for another 4 years!

First round bye!

GO USA!!!!

Best game I have ever seen. So much action, great goals, great hits, and Miller was amazing. The empty netter at the end let my heart finally rest a little bit.

Hard fought battle yesterday with the US team. Finland's not going to be any easier.

USA...USA...USA...USA!!!

Can't believe the Canadians beat Russia so easy. Although I guess it shouldn't suprise me, Crosby beats Olvechkin at just about everything ;)

Suprised Sweden is out!

Herb Brooks' pre-game pep talk before the famous 1980 "Miracle" game against the Soviet Union. as performed by "Rizzo" (4 yrs old)

Then this....if it doesn't give you goose bumps, you might need to check your pulse!

It is a little long, but well worth the watch. Maybe we can see some more of that in the coming days. I don't really watch hockey that much, but the two US games I have watched have been outstanding! They play tomorrow at noon??GO USA!!

I don't really know the rules of hockey. Is there any kind of traveling penelty? I am asking because of these videos.

If it is legal, why don't we see more of these kinds of shots?

The only ones that would not be legal in a game are the ones that the players carried the puck above the crossbar. Not a penalty, but would get a whistle because of a highstick on the puck.

You don't see that stuff in actual games because:

one, you would get killed the next time on the ice for show boating. Remember fighting is part of the game.

two, most of those shots were at the allstar game in a "shoot out" competition.

three, normally you don't have the kind of time it takes to pull those off in a game situation.

They are cool to watch though.

Man oh man what a game that was yesterday! The US really showed a lot of heart battling back from 2-0 vs the All-Star team Canada is/was. Wish they would have gotten more shots on the net early, but it just wasn't to be. Very good experience builder for the youngest team in the tourney though. Watch out for the US in 4 years in Russia...that is if pros are still playing.

On the other hand: I really wanted to US to win of course, but if someone else had to win it...Sidney Crosby is a good 2nd option. Beat Olvechkin to the Stanley Cup, and now to Gold. How could anyone argue who is the better player??????
Hell, now that he's decided to shoot more often he's even leading Ovie in goals scored...the only thing Ovie might be better than Sid at, well other than cheap shots!

GO USA IN 2014!!!!! **==

2 weeks "off" and the NHL is back in full force. Almost like nothing has changed....Pens win!!! Stars lose?

Trade deadline is today, and the Pens have already done some fine tuning for that run to Lord Stanley once again. Can we make it 3 years in a row??? Got a long way to go, 20 games, but I HOPE SO!!!!!

LET'S GO PENS!!!

Just noticed the Pens are playing the Stars this Saturday at 12...Should be just enough time to get done with the S.C mini and get home for the drop of the puck

You coming over Patty? With the way the last Stars vs. Pens game went you seem like good luck for the Pens!!! =))

I'll talk to you about it on the course next time I see you out...but in case you check it out here again here's the low down.

Line changes are made mostly because players expend so much engergy during a 1 1/2 minute shift that they need 2 or 3 other line shifts between their next shift to catch their breathe.

Line changes are also made to match up your defensive speicalist line vs. the other teams supestars. Like on the Pens, you will see Jordan Staal vs. all of the other teams top lines...when at home. <-- The home team gets the last change. <-- This is also why you see coaches make changes after the other team has sent out their lines.

hope that helps....

He missed the mini and the game huh? Must have been home playing with Tiger.

I was just watching espn and saw the hit on Savard. It is amazing what the human body can take.

Well from the sound of it:
he's scared of S.C.
he already had to hear it form Frenchie about his Blues smoking Patty's Stars...
so he didn't want to have to hear it form me!

That was a hard hit on Savard yesterday, and a little dirty! I'm sure he'll be fined for that one...I'm glad Cook in on my team and not someone elses!

Last week of the regular season, Pens took a hard lose last night vs. stupid Ovie....especially since the stinkin Devils won. Of course we still don't have Malkin back, or Kunitz....both should be healthy for the playoff run though.
SO: BEWARE OF THE PENGUINS..dubbie dubby dooooo!!!!

3 more games left, come on #2 seed!!!!
