5-22-2012

Tuesday is here already this week….which means time to get us caught up on what’s coming up in the world of West Texas disc golf. We have a holiday weekend ahead of us, which means no lake mini or women’s mini this week…but both the Wednesday and Saturday minis are a go. The Menage a Trois is coming up quickly, and the pre-registration playerpack signup date is even closer. Get those teams formed as both online and in person registration is open. The next big event after the Menage is the 9th Annual Wild Hair up in Abilene. Then the very next week is Levelland’s Lighthouse on the Plains tourney. So we have a busy June ahead of us.

Big Thanks to Cookie and Coby for running Heardimore the 9th this last weekend. I know just about everyone I have talked to have a GREAT time! Also thanks to Patty, Jack, and Dave for helping set up and/or watching things while we were out playing. And last but certainly not least…a HUGE thank you to the sponsors of this year’s event. Please support these people when and where you can: Joe’s Ice House(thanks again Phillip for lunch as well), Mark at Bright Brewing for the Corn Beer, Bes-Tex, Cortse Flag & Silkscreen, and of course the CVDGA without which this event would never of happened. Can’t wait to see what the 10th Annual Heardimore will bring us next year!

MINIS

No Women’s Mini next Monday since it is Memorial day.

Wednesday’s mid-week mini is set for Handicapped Singles at Picnic Bend. As always teetime is 6pm.

Saturday’s Mini is scheduled for random doubles at North Concho with a teetime of 10am.

No Sunday Mini as I am sure there will be campers in the way since it is Memorial weekend…as well as some of the “in danger” baskets may be removed.

4th Annual Ménage A Trois

The CVDGA’s team event, the Menage A Trois is a unique disc golf tourney that instead of just playing doubles you get to play singles, doubles, triples, and various other formats throughout the weekend. As well as being the only tourney you getting to play the “added holes” at South Concho. This just may be my favorite event in San Angelo!

9th Annual Abilene Wild Hair

This event was my first “big” tourney to play (I’m actually wearing my 2004 Wild Hair shirt today)…and was one I never thought I’d miss because of that. Add to that the friends I made in Abilene while playing this event and it’s one I really want to make again. My problem is it’s on boat race weekend…There is not much that takes me away from disc golf, but I’ve been doing boat races since I was about 10 years old. Hate to miss it, so I’ll encourage you to make it for me! (and be sure to give Alan a b-day solute from me….if you know what I mean!
